City of San Luis General Plan

San Luis’s Rolle Airfield is a former WWII training field and is maintained as a general aviation airport. As the area around the airport grows, the airfield's significance will change. Presently, Rolle Airfield serves a unique function in that it acts as a "reliever" airport for civilian general aviation aircraft by providing a safe site at which pilots can practice their flying skills away from the intense military training activity, commercial jet and business jet operations of Yuma International Airport/MCAS. Additionally, the military still conducts aviation-related training exercises at Rolle Airfield.

Rolle Airfield is located approximately 30 miles from US Army Yuma Proving Ground. The airfield is also uniquely positioned as an extension of the Yuma International Airport’s Defense Contractor Complex to support the aerospace industrial base, including government, civilian and military operations, testing and development of unmanned aircraft.

Rolle Airfield supports general aviation traffic in South Yuma County for those interested in accessing the City of San Luis by air, as well as those who have business at the nearby US / Mexican Commercial Port of Entry.
